Tried their yellow tail and salmon roll and they were both pretty fire. It's the only sushi I've tried in Ventura but I had to say it was pretty solid. Good amount of fish in each roll too. I'd say the rolls are more worth than just straight up sushi if you're hungry. Also I don't want to make assumptions, but it seemed like a family owned restaurant and they were all grindin. Gotta love the small family owned establishments man

Very best place in town, hands down. Toshi is the owner and sushi chef.
I've always loved this place, 4 stars is great for sushi outside of LA West Side or SF, or San Diego in my opinion.
Don't bother with I love Sushi or Sumo Sushi unless you want 3 star quality.
This is a small place, go early or go late. Again Toshi is the best. -

If you are a fan of sushi with lots of frills--tempura, onion strings, sweet sauces and endless combinations--this may not be the right place for you. If, however, you are looking for high-quality fish, delicious yet simplified rolls, and authentic Japanese cuisine-- Koba is by far your BEST choice in Ventura County.
As other reviews have mentioned, the space is small and seats no more than 25 people but if there is a wait, trust me sushi lovers, it's worth it. The most delicious miso soup (accompanied by green onions and rich seaweed) is just $1 and offers a sumptuous umami flavor that enriches the experience at Koba. Sitting alone at the counter, I started with a miso soup and the. ordered seaweed salad (to get that perfect crunch alongside my sushi), a spicy yellowtail cut roll and an albacore hand roll-- all of which made my tastebuds salivate with satisfaction.
The owners have created a welcoming environment that enhances the simplicity of their sushi menu. I would invite you to put your phone away (unless you're taking pictures to post here on Yelp) and just enjoy people watching/conversing. If you're feeling particularly social, try talking to someone at the sushi bar. You could end up meeting someone fascinating. -

I come here every 2 weeks or so, and it is my FAVORITE sushi spot in Ventura County. It's small, cozy, and authentic.
The staff are very kind, they pretty much know my order every time and I really love that!
Stay in business forever, Koba! -

The food is very authentic and the staff are wonderful. They are also have vegan friendly options. Everything is reasonable priced for the portions and quality of food you receive.
It reminds me of Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories.
